I'd have to agree with JeffreyDeGraff. As a rule of thumb I clean my guns after shooting, just how I was raised. I can't imagine cleaning a new barrel would hurt anything unless you're using a sandblaster... I've gotten away from using rods, I use bore snakes instead. Really like the ease of use!
