Probably going to need a slower burning powder for that big bullet.

I did a little looking, and seems 4831 is about as fast burning as you should go. The slower the better with that one.

Ok I've done a change up and bought some Norma 204 powder
anyone have any safe starting loads for 230hpbt and lead free 120gn txbt
I’m looking on a burn rate chart and Norma 204 falls in between IMR4350 and H 4350, which is going to still be a little too fast burning for that 230gr bullet.
Barnes lists data for their 110gr and 130gr bullets with H4350, but they dont have any load data for their 120gr bullet yet. This is where it gets tricky, and this is what I would do ( but you are not me so take this however you want). I would look at the starting loads for H4350 for both the 110 and 130, split the difference, and use that as my starting point for Norma204 with the 120gr. Hope this helps at least a little.

Thanks very much it helps
I spoke with Sierra about the 230gr. bullets he was thinking about 58gr. of 204 would work .
do you think it would be unsafe
If it’s coming directly from Sierra, I would trust it.

Well he really didn't have any load data on it. He just was going off comparing different bullets and there data .
He wouldn't really lock in in lol
Sierras technicians are really good. I would trust it if it were me.
