If you do go with the t track, don’t be too scared to use a router. It’s a very quick learning process. Make it easy on yourself by using a straight track against the router to guide you so you get a perfectly straight channel for the track. Just set your plunge depth and take it slow at first. You’ll be proud of having learned to use a new tool and you’ll be satisfied with the result. I’m about to install some track on my own bench for mounting several tools(bench vise, bench grinder, powder measure, etc).

I've settled on using t-track for my bench. I also know my OCD will kick in when I install the track. Yesterday I spent a few hours getting acquainted with the router and some scrap wood. I'm feeling good about this.
