Also, I use the "Ove Glove" now for casting. A pair on Amazon isn't too expensive. They sound gimmicky, but a friend recommended them. After I tried his, I ordered my own.

They were sold in infomercials as a new cooking glove. They're made with nomex like a fire suit, and have some elastic as well as silicone grippers molded on. So they have better feel and grip than welding or work gloves, and resist heat quite well.
