I have to be doing something wrong. No way could this be the right measurement. Just using the mic without the ogive gauge. The total length is 2.4444 Just the brass is 1.750 The 62gr bullet is .8015 Going by this. The bullet only sits inside the brass 0.1071"
Either I'm doing something wrong. Or the rifle is way off. And shouldn't be fire.

I ran into the same issue. Most standard AR chambers are designed to run a wide variety of ammo. Mag length (2.250-2.260) is usually what most guys seat to. For my S&W M&P Sport 15 I seat most everything at 2.250. It was seems to give the best average accuracy. Bolt guns will have much tighter tolerances typically. I tested rounds from 2.200 up to 2.260 and didn't see a significant difference in accuracy...
