.244 Remington Ackley Improved

Well, got a new to me wildcat, gun show score
muaser 98 action, chambered in 244 REM AI
unknown barrel manufacture, unknown trigger, junky plastic stock....but it came with a scope & dies....lol
havent checked yet, but a glance at the rifling looks well faster than a 12 twist

next week hopefully I'll have time to really dig in it....but after the .240 PSP this one is easy to figure out!

Alright, I pulled it apart and cleaned decades of gunk out of the receiver, will pull down the bolt later, and maybe remove the scope mount to get more data on the action (SN 99175)...factory stamps are covered, and frankly I'm not really concerned as no numbers match, and it's been rebarreled who knows how many times

of more interest to me was the twist rate of 1-14....so that'll relegate this to 80hr and less, under 500yds
stock is a plastic mode specific to the missed 98 action....still not a fan, I'll order a Boyd's later

made a bid on some more .244 rem head stamp brass( yes I know 6mm rem is the same, but I like the idea of keeping correct brass to chamber, as I'm not gonna live forever and I don't want people guessing what goes to what)

hopefully I'll know in a couple weeks how well it shoots, no issues with rifling or throat to the naked (fine, I wear cheaters sometimes)
