Yep, done correctly, there is no reason not to do it every time. I know a lot of guys do, but I have not had trouble with not annealing every time.

I finally annealed some brass tonight. I did 80 Hornady 25-06 brass and 200 W-W 30-06 brass. I’m guessing they turned out well. I let them roll until they started to glow. I only lost one piece of brass and burned my fingers once.

Everything on this EP Innovations 2.0 annealer worked as it should. It took a little finagling to get the brass to drop and not fall out, but was able to get it worked out. I’m sure it will get easier the more I play with it.

That is all the brass I have to anneal at this time. If I can get to the range sometime, I’ll get some more.

Thanks for the follow-up! I trust that as you get more comfortable with it, it will become easier and you will be confident in the results.

This could just be me imagining things or very cool. I got 200 WW 30-06 range brass from Wes. I annealed it after wet tumbling. Yesterday I started full length sizing it. They seemed to size easier than what I am used to, and I took 25 aside and took measurements at the shoulder, only .001” variance in length. I was really surprised, normally with range brass I have a bit more variance than that.

Absolutely some of the pluses from annealing! I am much more prone to anneal than I ever thought I would be.

I just annealed some FC and RP 7x57 brass. Surprisingly, the FC took a few more seconds in the heat to achieve the glow. Went smooth this time. No burnt fingers and set up went quicker. I accidentally ran 3 pieces of nickel plated brass through it, that were mixed in. Oops! May need to scrap those.

Does it harden the nickel plating making it more prone to crack?

You know, that is a great question. I have very little nickel brass and never raised that question.
