Here’s a quick question, how do you guys polish seating polish or dies? I have an RCBS die that etches bullets bad. What should I use, what’s the best method?

I ended up starting with 600grit sandpaper and went up through 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500. Chucked the seating stem in a drill and wrapped small pieces of the sandpaper around a bullet. It looks pretty good but got called away before I could test it out seating bullets. Hopefully this fixes my issues and if it does I have a couple more die sets that will be gone through.

Ive often wondered about this. Let me know how it works.
JTD
Will do, JTD! I screwed up at first. Coated a bullet in lapping compound from my wheeler scope kit. That stuff is way too coarse as it actually made it worse. More scoring in the seating stem than when I started. So I had to work a little harder than I probably should have to get it to smooth out. Having a hard time with pictures of this so I don’t think I’ll be sharing any of this project until I get some time to mess with seating a few bullets. From looks alone, I think the polishing did the trick though.

Over the years I have sent several sets of dies back to RCBS. This is a rare event with RCBS dies. Each time the dies came back fixed. My suggestion is to return to dies to RCBS.
