Miss hunting the woodchucks when living in Maine.
Started with a Winchester Mod 70 XTR chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. My Speer 115gr handloads were accurate an deadly. I was a member of "Seekers of the Red Mist" society.
Then moved on to a Savage 112J chambered in 220Swift. Settled on the 52gr SMK's at a nominal 3850.
Loved the hunt. Easy going, could talk and joke with huntin' buddy. We took head shots only if <200yds.
    Miss that hunting. --- SAWMAN

Sounds like a lot of fun Sawman, I miss the PA groundhog hunts I used to do annually with a couple good buddies. So many stories and good times, but you know how life happens and separates people as we age. So thankful for the memories though and am planning to start up again but probably by my self.

    Shoot straight!

Ah, the 220 swift. That was the first varmint rifle I ever bought. Killed a lot of prairie dogs with it. My load for it was w760 with 50gr vmax at 3900fps. I got over 2500 rounds out of that barrel before I rebarreled it. Now it is a 243 ackley improved.

Ruger American Predator in 223, 73 grain ELD M, about 100 yards away, pretty sure there's one more that's bigger than that one

We had places in Maine that had never been hunted. These places for the first several years yielded us 20-30+ in a leisurely day of hunting.
A buddy got me into chuck hunting when I went up to Maine to visit him when on leave from the military. Killed my first chuck at 150yds with his Rem 788 chambered in 243.
Loved Maine so much, got back to Jacksonville, terminated shore duty, and took a set of orders to Maine to become a S.E.R.E School Instructor (again). Retired there and became a guide. Stayed for the next 20 years until it got too cold. Out of all my hunting for a multitude of different critters, chuck hunting was my favorite.
    Now in Flah-Duh . . . UNFORTUNATELY !! --- SAWMAN
