We had places in Maine that had never been hunted. These places for the first several years yielded us 20-30+ in a leisurely day of hunting.
A buddy got me into chuck hunting when I went up to Maine to visit him when on leave from the military. Killed my first chuck at 150yds with his Rem 788 chambered in 243.
Loved Maine so much, got back to Jacksonville, terminated shore duty, and took a set of orders to Maine to become a S.E.R.E School Instructor (again). Retired there and became a guide. Stayed for the next 20 years until it got too cold. Out of all my hunting for a multitude of different critters, chuck hunting was my favorite.
