Started with a Winchester Mod 70 XTR chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. My Speer 115gr handloads were accurate an deadly. I was a member of "Seekers of the Red Mist" society.
Then moved on to a Savage 112J chambered in 220Swift. Settled on the 52gr SMK's at a nominal 3850.
Loved the hunt. Easy going,could talk and joke with huntin' buddy. We took head shots only if <200yds.

Ah, the 220 swift. That was the first varmint rifle I ever bought. Killed a lot of prairie dogs with it. My load for it was w760 with 50gr vmax at 3900fps. I got over 2500 rounds out of that barrel before I rebarreled it. Now it is a 243 ackley improved.


JTD
