Out of all my 7x57 brass, the Hornady is the shortest at the shoulder. There are only 7 pieces, so I figured it would be the perfect starting point. I necked them up to 30 caliber, the started sizing them down to 7mm. After every small adjustment I checked for fit in the rifle. I finally got it to where there was some resistance closing the bolt but was not tight or hard to close. I’m hoping that after annealing and forming the false shoulder, I’ll be in business.

This is a great way of doing this! I have used this method often through the years in multiple circumstances. A little time consuming, but I always felt very confident in the results.

Just as a point to note. Today is a good day to be at the bench in SE PA, lol. A wet sloppy day all around.

Those are the best bench days. What will you be working on?

A little off the beaten path, but my bench also includes a 3d printer. I am setting up to print a component separating top for my Hornady powder drops. It is really a kind of sickness, this 3d printing thing, lol.

I look at all of the 3D printed things people making and selling on Etsy, eBay, and FB. I can see where it could be very fun. Please send pics when you are done!
