    New brass prep

Just got in new Hornady brass for my 6.5 grendel. Should I size and load, run through the tumbler, sonic clean then tumble.. and then load.. only other new brass I've used was for handgun.. so new rifle brass is new to me.

Aside from Wes's fully processed brass, I go through the standard procedures for once fired brass. Better to know exactly what you have and has been done.

If its brand new you won't have to tumble. I do size and trim all new brass.

For new brass that I’ll load as hunting or precision rounds, I size, trim, deburr and chamfer case mouths, deburr flash holes, and uniform primer pockets. It’s a lot of work, but I dedicate an afternoon for it.

I run a mandrel, or expander ball partially in the mouth. No need to size, it'll never get any better than brand new. Unless it's Lapua, I trim, chamber, deburr, uniform primer pockets, and uniform flash holes.
