Gun purchase/ownership in Medical Marijuana states

Question for those of you in Marijuana legal or Medical Marijuana States A friend in Arkansas posted this letter from the Fed's to FFl owners.Note it is 8 years old. Not of personal concern, mind you, but how are gun purchases being handled in these states? https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com/tulsaworld.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/3/42/3421b79c-db69-5dd9-9ef6-4460c63cc203/5b34ce371cd70.pdf.pdf?fbclid=IwAR0HcZibdhRgcKXaHgG zIlwuhPiY0DVJ66yd5p3765qR3hvbM7AjRqkc4go

Gun purchases are the same as they always have been in Washington state. Just because its legal in the state doesn’t mean it’s legal at the federal level. If you check the marijuana box yes, you will get denied.

One of my friends in Arkansas expressed a concern that people were getting “medical marijuana “ cards and not realizing that they just threw their 2nd Amendment rights down the toilet. Wonder if that information is registered with the state so even if you mark “no” the background check will throw up a red flag? Anyone with info?

Just because you have a card doesn’t mean you used marijuana. They would have to have some sort of proof you used or purchased marijuana. Granted it would be stupid to have one if you are a gun owner or purchaser. I would be willing to bet there a hugh number of liars when it comes to drug use and firearm purchases.

Marijuana remains illegal for any purpose in every US state, territory and possession under federal law. Users are prohibited not only from purchasing but also possessing any firearm or ammunition. Legally, you could say yes on the form and be denied, or you could lie and be subject to 10 years imprisonment and a lifetime firearms and ammunition ban. In January 2017 the 4473 question 11e had a warning added about pot still being illegal regardless of what states say. All users are prohibited persons whether you buy a gun or not, for that matter. It's always been that way as far as I know and has never changed.
