I have loaded and shot thousands of rounds of 223 using standard small rifle primers(mostly Winchester but others as well) and never had an issue. If is was shooting a full auto I might want to use #41s but I don't so I don't worry.

With the muzzle pointed to the ground, fully pull the charging handle to the rear and let go, eject the unfired cartridge, look at the dimple on the primer.
No worries, just wonder.
Just a couple from an AR15 platform.
The M1A and AR10 will do the same.
