    Nothing wrong with the .458 and I don't know your hunting regs. But, many States are starting to allow the use of straight walled pistol calibers for deer. For that reason I am going with a .450 Bushmaster. No rifle yet, but someday. Just a thought for the mix. Oh, some do use a 45/70 here in IA for deer.

    NC has let us use straight walled pistol calibers since the dawn of time. The only regulations on that is it can't be smaller than 357. I hunted deer here with a 45/70 on numerous occasions.
