Same here Eric. I have a thremal sight mounted on a 18" Bison AR,a 72V Bad Boy Buggy,am long retired,no kids, grandkids, etc, etc. Just my wife and I. Can go every night but most other people with thermal got work, grandkids, farms, pouty wife, etc, etc.
We have hogs here in extreme NW Fla. but not like Texas. My club has hogs and miles and miles of roads to cruse, but I mostly hunt the peanut fields about 30 minutes to the E of where I live. I love the night. Hunting in total darkness is damn near unfair. I hunt mostly the no moon nights. When the moon does come up I back the buggy up under some low hanging limbs. Basically . . in the shadows.
My Bad Boy buggy is super quite and have tweaked it to be even more stealthy. The loudest part of it is the tires crunching on the gravel. In soft sand there is no sound. Plus, there is a huge rear compartment to carry all my support equipment.
Good hog hunting to all. --- SAWMAN
