168 gr hodgdon says it should be at 2865 fps. That was about 6 feet from the gun. Any closer gives too many errors from the muzzle blast.

That 300WSM should produce more velocity than a Win Mag if so desired.

What length barrel do you have? Some barrels are just slower than others. I’ve got some rifles that will shoot 200fps faster than what published data shows, some that are 200fps slower than the book says, the rest are somewhere in between. There are a lot of variables at play, barrel length, twist rate, throat length, and chamber dimensions to name a few.

I have seen guys with a 300 wm push 215 grain bullets at 3000fps with no serious signs of pressure. You should easily be over 3000 with that...

Could be wrong but I believe that all 300WSM's are 1:10 twist.
