My experience with DIY gun blueing hasn't been any good. I tried BIRCHWOOD CASEY PERMA BLUE PASTE GUN BLUE. I found this to be a waste of time, it looked good at first but doesn't hold up at all.
Hopefully you will find a better product. Myself, I'll consider a gunsmith that does hot blueing in the future.
i have asked a couple old old time gun smiths .said ppl dont do it anymore due to chemicals ans epa
That's true. Hot blueing involves some nasty chemicals and safety is paramount. You might look into browning or parkerizing.
I've done a couple of guns with the Birchwood Casey kits (not the paste) with great results. That being said, the only reason it turned out so well was a shit ton of prep work. The metal needs to be perfectly clean in order for the blueing to take.

Are you dead set on bluing? If not cerakote is becoming a more popular option.

Just don't tell my wife how much any of this really costs.
Vanns insta gun blue. Works great I've done a couple barrels with it.
I've used Oxpho-Blue on many guns to bring them back to life (I only do it with rusted metal that needs clean and protected). It works great and preheating the metal helps with the reaction. A friend of mine that does more of it for people uses Brownells 44/40 and he loves the results.

This isn't Facebook - I couldn't care less about what you're eating.
