I personally like the 180 grn roundnose soft point, @2750 fps. It will hi a deer and knock the hell out of them , when you get a good hit they go down fast and hard. If you don't get that perfect hit ,well it still does a number on a deer that they don't go far!

For close ranges work, like 200 yards and in, a round nose bullet will actually perform exceptionally well terminally on deer. It’s hard to beat actually. Any bullet with a long boat tail or slender ogive profile simply can’t produce the same level of wounding at close range. That being said, there are still bullets constructed like that that can still produce very good results both close range and well beyond 200 yards.

No Jeffery DeGraff it is out of a .308, most of my shots are around 50 to 600 yards. I have a lot of timber as well so the shots are usually under 200 yards.
