Recieved a 20" AR upper for Christmas. And it definitely doesn't like my 50 and 55 grain reloads. What size projectiles are your 20" uppers liking? Mid weight 60 grains, or heavier like 75 grain projectiles?

I just purchased an 18” 7twist upper. I haven’t shot it yet, but am planning on loading 75gr hornady hpbt for my everyday rounds, and either 70gr barnes tsx or 75gr Swift Scirocco II for a hunting round. Going to do load development with CFE223 and Varget. Those are my plans for now, it may all go to shit once I get started, and have to go a completely different direction.

I have an 18" 1:8 twist that shoots 77smk into tiny lil groups regularly. However, everything else is mediocre at best. The lighter the projectile, the bigger the groups get. So don't be surprised if it doesn't shoot the lighter stuff too well.

Mine loves anything in the 60gr range! 18” Odin works barrel 223 wylde 1:8 twist. It’ll shoot the 69gr SMKs very nicely but I haven’t tried many bullets above 69 gr. I’m using Varget mostly.

My 1 in 8 20 inch shoots 60 grain Noslers the best, followed by 69 grain SMKs.
I've got a funny suspicion we have the same barrel. I did a bit of shooting yesterday for ladders and that was one of the barrels I was working on. Didn't have much success until I did my last full max listed load for some Hornady 50 grain Vmax and you can guess where I picked those up from. It was a 3 shot ladder and it came together with 28.5 grains of CFE223 and COL 2.24. Load at your own risk but that was a listed max load on one of the loading charts. Others show less. I loaded 5 this morning and will try to confirm the load but I'm guessing it will be weeks before I can get back out. I've been out shooting for 3 days, leaving on Friday to go duck hunting and have not worked around the house the last 3 days off and I think for the sake of my marriage I may need to. Those shot 3 at 9/16" at 200yds.
