    With no experience in the matter, other than reading from various sources, I would also suggest the .22 Hornet. It’s low velocity tends to hold game together a bit better than the faster .17’s and .22’ but it’s still got a flat enough trajectory to be useable at longer ranges. I would probably go for a K-hornet in your shoes just to have something a bit different.

    My vote would be a shotgun. I’ve shot squirrel with a hornet. It makes a mess

    I only take head shots so it wouldn't affect me that much
