I forgot that hornady made the leverevolution in 32 special. That should be great out of it. I bought both the hornady and Speer bullets for mine, I like options. I ended up with rcbs dies. I was always under the assumption that cowboy dies were the way to go if loading cast bullets, and to use the regular dies if you are going to shoot jacketed.

Opting for cowboy for the roll crimp with the lever action got a buddy who blew up his 30-30 on last round from tube bullet seated deeper with recoil and action so just trying a safe route

I definitely understand that. I wonder what type of crimp the standard die utilizes. Whatever the type crimp it does, should be adequate, as long as it is done properly. I’ve never had a bullet set back in any of my lever guns, but my crimps are always on the heavy side. From what I understand about the cowboy dies is that they size the neck differently to accommodate lead bullets ( I could be wrong here, it has been ages since I’ve read up on this)

lol No Doubt! The guy selling it has a shop in town. This rifle has been there for 2-3 months. Partly because its an oddball cartridge* and partly because they are higher priced than any of our local shops, including River City Firearms, Kygunco, etc

*Oddball cartridges are half the fun of reloading, for me anyway. I enjoy it so much I bought a T/C Encore so I could get barrels in pretty much any cartridge past or present.

    32 Win special

I use the lee FCD on my 32sp and use 165gr FTX bullets over leverevolution powder I don’t remember my exact charge of the top of my head. I think my sizing and seating dies are rcbs. Also uniform trim length is more critical with leverguns
