About a year ago I picked up a NEF Handi Rifle chambered in 30-30Win,NIB for $100.
It is the typical "fun gun". I am still going thru my stash of about 25 different .308" bullets in this gun. It will even shoot a 180gr jacketed flat base bullet accurately. The 110gr varmint bullets are tons of fun,and this gun, with it's super strong action will handle pressures up to failed brass.
In the near future I will have a buddy resize some 375Win brass into 30-30Win. With it much thicker web I will see how fast I can move bullets up to about 150grs.
    Fun gun !! --- SAWMAN
Sounds like you’re definitely having some fun with it!! I gotta be honest I can’t remember ever seeing a single shot. My search starts now!

Several companies offer a single shot 30-30. The NEF guns are the cheapest . . by far. Strong lock up,aftermarket stuff available for them also. I will eventually put on a youth sized stock or have the existing stock cut down to 12.5-13.0 inches.
At this time I have 7 different NEF Handi Rifles. Have had many more over the years. They all shoot well, are reasonably accurate, and have a good trigger pull with a little tinkering. My NEF Handi Rifle (AAC Edition) chambered in 300BLK ended up shooting better than most AR's . . . a lot better.
The NEF 30-30 has a 10 twist bbl. --- SAWMAN

Have you taken any game with the FTX bullets? I know they are accurate, but I have heard mixed reviews on how they perform on game. I haven't got the chance to see how they do, only target shooting.

Deadly! I wish I could upload a video. I loaded some up for my buddies 450 and they just don’t go anywhere. The furthest for me is 12 yards only because he went up on back legs and fell backwards. If you place it right there’s no issue. Some complain of no blood trail but personally I haven’t had an issue.

Great timing. My brother and I inherited a 30-30 each from my Grampa long passed. The guns have been sitting in a closet for 20 years. None are collectible, both used hard. I have 3031 and Varget, but I use the Varget so 3031 it will be. Going to load 170 Sierra, with 27.5 gr 3031. Mid speer book which goes from 25.5 to 29.5 to pick up less than 300 fps. Probably just throw them with the 550 once dialed in. We have 4 30-30s and only looking for minute of coke can at 75. Should be fun. Life time of brass and 250 pulled bullets bought at a gun show years ago in anticipation of today

That just sounds like an absolute hoot!

I enjoy loading for and shooting my 30-30 rifle. Mine is just an old "Glenfield" by Marlin, and it shoots so nicely. A joy to carry & shoot. I've even taken to handloading some 150 gr cast bullets over a modest charge of Unique for a very soft-shooting fun load at the range.

    Regards, Guy
