I do not believe that any "normally" manufactured bullet will properly expand going that slow. Possibly one of the Hornady bullets designed for a tube fed 30-30. I believe that they make an 125gr lead nose HP. Possibly that.
I believe that you will have to go to a Lehigh Defense or the like. And this type of bullet can get pretty expensive. Another "theory" is a heavy/long bullet traveling right on the edge of sub/super that will destabilize apon impact, and tumble.

Hornady sub x bullets are designed for the black out.

Subsonic 300blk is designed to tumble, as mentioned above.
Hornady Sub-X bullets can't be purchased yet as components, only ammo.
Only expanding bullets would be the super spendy Makers or Lehigh.
Shoot a 110gr Barnes for the best expansion, run then supersonic with a can on.
Works great on deer out to 150+

Maker (Rex) bullets have a proven track record, you can buy the bullets for reloading yourself, or there are vendors that use them in subsonic ammunition (Mid America Munitions, for example, but there are others).

As stated above, the Hornady Sub-X have proven effective!

Lehigh Defense also have a great track record: you can buy their bullets to reload, or there are vendors that use them, such as Gorilla ammunition...

Full disclosure - - -> I have no expierance with hunting animals with my 300BLK's shooting anything but supersonic, loaded as fast as possible.
IMO,the Hornady sub load produces terminal energy levels that most ethical hunters consider far below the levels needed to humainly dispatch game animals. (Approximately 1/4 the power of a 30-30Win.)
On the other hand . . . my 16" barreled 300BLK has killed hogs in excess of 250lbs. This, shooting a well made bullet as supersonic as possible.
No subs for me . . . not for hunting. --- SAWMAN

Ok so I have experience with 300 blk hunting deer

190 SUBX ammo didn’t expand like they claim so I won’t use them anymore
Lehigh defense do expand really well but with cost per round can’t justify using except occasionally
All subs I’ve used have been under 75 yards for shots
I ended up giving up on subs on deer and settled in with the 150gr SST works great even at 300 yards with the suppressor on they are very tolerable

Just to add a bit more (confusion) to the mix: the Speer 150gr 300 BLK Gold Dot (the one specifically for 300 BLK) bullet has had great success... Not sure about the velocities they were loaded at, however.

Thanks guys just wondering what everyone else has had best luck with. The guys at maker bullets are local and very helpful. Actually haven't recovered a bullet yet and all of my shots have been under 75 yards, even the 200lb hog had a pass thru. Sawman I agree with the ethical shot totally, if it's not a head shot I don't take it.
