Never gave much thought to the 480Ruger as a pistol hunting cartridge . . . but why not. Plenty of close range power. Cuts a nice wide hole going in,WFNGC's available. Good choice. Especially in the little single shot.

I love the caliber. Very accurate and the recoil is mild compared to what people say about the .454, .460 and .500.

The 480 Ruger is very potent in a rifle. I’ve never chronographed mine, but that 410gr wfngc never stops after it hits something.

The Speer flat points I loaded worked well. I have some 415grain cast and some 275gr HPs I am going to try though too.
