I average 1300 rds fired/week at these "explosive" critters during May, June and July - long days. A bit less in April and October.
Prairie days with no wind are rare - lots of doping practise.
Some stuff I've learned:
-The 50Z-Max at 3200'/s mv can explode a PD so hard his parts will take out 2 more dogs close by.
-If you can drop the group's center dog into the hole and plug it you can usually pick off the rest who can't get down the hole.
-If you're walking them up, keep your head on a swivel - they pop up for a look after you pass.
-Rattlers tend to den up in late Oct. Always a concern.
