    +p is a SAAMI designation for rounds that have a higher average pressure then a standard round. There are only a few rounds which have SAAMI +P destinations.

    38 Special
    38 Super
    45 ACP
    9MM Luger

    Are the ones I know of off the top of my head.

    However the industry had adopted +P to mean any round that is “Hotter” then standard regardless of it is loaded to SAAMI guidelines. For example a lot of people will load 45 Colt +p which isn’t a SAAMI approved loading. Basically you are at the mercy of the manufacturer as to what they determine +p to be if it’s not a SAAMI load.

    You may also see +p+ which is suppose to be hotter then +p. +p+ is not an industry standard loading and is up to the manufacturer.

    SAAMI has come out and said it won’t be doing any more +p loads. So what we have now o mother books is what there is.
