    Primer issue

I was priming some 300 blk brass tonight using my RCBS auto prime attachment for my Rock Chucker IV. Somehow at some point on two separate occasions primers got flipped and inserted backwards. Any suggestions on how to get them out without doing major damage to my press or my fingers?

Run it back through your decaping die nice and easy. It'll push out. I've done it on numerous occasions.

Yep. Same here. I've even went as far as to reuse the primer I removed.

If you’re nervous, soak the primer in warm vinegar....

Just deprime them like any other shell case. Not an issue. Safety glasses on, as should be done all the time, and pop it out

It happens. Pop it out gently and reuse.

I have been using winchester primers in my XL650 and loaded several thousand rounds now. I get a flipped primer like 1 out of every 300.

Tried some Federal Magnum match primers for some hot 45 acp loads I was doing. I got almost 10 upside down primers in only 50 rounds. That was with me catching the problem quickly and inspecting the primer before seating... I think they were flipping in the primer system as well as during the primer seating process... I thought my press was the problem but I switched back to winchester right after and had no problems.

I suspect that the Federal primers have a rounded edge than the Winchester. And it is possible that the press is slightly out of time. Just enough to mess with the Federal primers but not enough to mess with the Winchester.

I just deprime them slowly and reuse them after inspecting them.

Thanks everyone! I was able to pop them out no problem. It was my first time using the Rock Chucker Auto Prime. I believe I figured out the issue. If I didn't have the ram high enough when I pushed the priming arm in the primer would catch on the bottom of the shell holder and flip in the cup before I seated it. I tried the hand priming tool a few times and just didn't like it and the little priming arm that came with the press is not compatible with my fat fingers.
