    Vinyl wrap rifle stock?

I’m looking for opinions and experiences vinyl wrapping a synthetic stock for a hunting rifle. Looked online and read various reviews, watched a few You Tube videos. I see options from $15 to $55, most prominent brands are Real tree or Gun Skins. Might be they spend the most on marketing?

Would appreciate any ideas from this forum’s members, as this really is a “no BS” zone. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I used gun skin on my pistol AR it seems to be holding up. But again I've only taken it on one hunt and a few range trips

I wanna follow this one. Normally I rattle can but I’ve been interested in this as well. If it’s not super durable I’d at least be able to remove it all cleanly and reapply or find something else.

I’d like to see what you decide and/or how everything turns out if you decide on wrapping

I also usually spray paint mine but figired would give it a shot. I think for stocks and things like this it will work great.

Well I ordered some vinyl wrap (not a gun skins kit) and will try it out in early December. Will post some photos along the way

Ok folks, the vinyl wrap arrived today and I’m just back from the last weekend of Minnesota’s deer hunting rifle season. Once I got all my hunting gear put away, it was time to get started with this project. A little background first:

Rifle is a Thompson Venture with a Nikon scope. Pretty much your basic plastic stock but it shoots like a much more expensive rifle (a digression for another thread). I am only wrapping the synthetic stock.

Step 1; clean the stock like all you obsessive reloaded do. Soap & water with a brush, then rubbing alcohol, clean rag, Q tips.

Note that the Ventures have recessed Hogue grip pads.

I bought the vinyl wrap from an online retailer (guess which one) for $14 for a 1’x5’ piece with a clean cloth, cheap razor knife and useless plastic flat edge.

Cut the vinyl to four (4) pieces... first mistake. Only need three (3); two for stock, one for trigger guard forward. You want to minimize seams and I have an extra running in the bottom of the stock forearm.
