It’s been mentioned already but Barnes makes a good round. If you’re looking for something for white tail the 130gr would be an excellent choice. It seems a little light but the magic of the monolithic is that holds together and all of that mass will drive deep into the animal through bone and sinew.

I prefer the 168gr TTSX for mule deer and Elk. The BC is a little higher, which helps a little with the longer range shots we have in the west and the bullet weight is sufficient to take the game cleanly.

What he said! I’ve used Sierra 150 gr pro hunters for many years. Accurate, cheap, no failures. Switching to Barnes to get the lead out. Great performance, reasonably accurate. Realize that Barnes (and other monolithics) are long for weight, so if you shoot 150 lead bullets well, go to 130 Barnes. Barnes seem to like a bit of jump to the lands, so longer bullets can reduce case capacity, which is especially important in a small case like .308. Good luck!
