    Reloading Manuals

I’m sure it’s a forgone conclusion that reloading manuals as we know them today are just about over. With the internet it makes it pretty easy to go get the info you need on manufacturers websites etc. I for one love that ability but I love to be able to pic up and go through an actual manual more than viewing on the web. Anyone else feel this way?

I have never looked up load data online. I use my books religiously. The way I look at it is what you gonna do if your Internet goes down or the device you saved your info to crashes or gets broke.

Yeah, I would agree. It’s an expensive endeavor to produce a reloading Manuel. Each load has to be tested in SAAMI pressure barrels, if following the SAAMI procedure it’s can be close to $5k in equipment per caliber.

Then all the man power, brass, bullets, powder. It’s a major undertaking. Then once you publish the book, it’s almost immediately out of date. New powders, wildcats, bullets, ect.

Online publishing is the economical way to go by far.

With that said, I am sure most people would agree, the dead tree version has a certain satisfaction that the online data doesn’t. I have several, one of my favorites is the Cast Bullet handbook put out by Lyman. It’s a must have for bullet casters and cheap skates ;-)

More of a book guy myself. I only have the Lee second edition but if I’m ever in doubt or want to try a different one I drive over to cabelas and look through the books there. And pick up powder while I’m there just to make it worth while

I need to get a cpl different books. I have the Lyman 48th and 49th edition. They've never let me down. My buddy gave me a Hornady book years ago. That book was very conservative with its load data. I didn't like it.

I agree. At one point I bought a loading manual everytime a new one came out. In about 1995 I sold over 30 of them for $5.00 each. I kept a few and have bought about 8 more since then.
But between narrowing down the chamberings that I reload for,and not only the powder makers info on the web,but also the bullet makers info I am about done with hard copy loading manuals.
