    Howdy neighbor. I’m retired over here in Kentucky.
    Us Kentuckians love West Virginians. We just use all the Kentucky hillbilly jokes and change them to West Virginia hillbilly jokes. For that we thank you.

    Have you ever investigated the term hillbilly? It’s interesting the number of people that argue how the monicker was applied.
    Theres no proof of this one, but our 7th grade civics teacher taught us that it came from the civil war. Kentucky stayed in the Union, and West Virginia seceded from the secession. We were Hill folk and Billy Yanks. Hillbilly. It’s not true but I like it.

    And for the spelling and bad grammar, it’s not our fault. That whole “Sound it out” deal they use to teach spelling doesn’t work with our dialect.
