Weird, I've been here my whole life and don't know one person who shoots competitively. Had no idea the Mica range did stuff like this. Always heard horror stories about the guy that runs it.
Is Level 1 considered entry level?

Level 1 is just a normal "local" (typically monthly) match. Level 2 is generally State level, level 3 is Area level, and level 4 is Nationals.

If I were you and you have the time, I'd at least try to go watch one of the matches and see how it is run and if it's something you're interested in. There is generally no charge for spectators and you can get a feel for the flow and what to expect.
