    Gun shelfs and such

Didnt know where to put this but just a general question. Mostly for those who shoot right handed. I make different things out of wood, cabinets, bookshelves and what ever else I can do. So been thinking about storage or hidden pistol locations. I have seen some where the pistol is laying on the right side, wouldn't this make it a little more difficult to pick up? Thoughts?

Wouldn't be real convenient that's for sure.

Is this for hidden locations around the house, or at the bench, or both?

I guess just in general right. What would make it easier or faster to pick up your pistol?

Something like the gun magnets that hold the gun by the top of the slide, or something where the barrel is in a hole, but the butt sticks out
    Hope that helps.
Mine are always on me in a holster, so I may not be much help

Right, and it on your strong side correct. But if it were laying flat on one side, which side would be better? I get if you are left handed it might be opposite, if you shot that way.

So here are the two examples. Which one would be easier for a right handed person to grab? Talking just pistols.

The bottom one might be ideal, but still not sure which side would be better.

I have a hidden drawer where I store mine and I lay the pistol on it's left side because I am right handed.

See that makes sense to me as well. It would seem to easier to pick up that way. Thanks for the input, I just wasnt sure if there was a reason to lay on the other side.

It wouldn't if the person practiced picking it up, like anything else, if you're planning to use it for self defense, you must practice. One more thing about these hidden shelves, they don't meet the new "secured storage" laws that King county has just passed (and others are considering it). Not that this will make much difference to most people, but it has to be a consideration in certain jurisdictions.
