    45 acp

Getting ready to try a different powder for me 45. Been using titegroup, but a talking to a friend and he's been using bluedot. Be shooting from a Ruger R1. Anybody have any input. Looking to fill the case up a bit more and see the difference on grouping.

How’s the titegroup working? I have a few pounds as well as bullseye. I am getting ready to start setting up my reloading room in my new house so I have time to do some research.

In my experience Blue Dot is too slow of a powder for the 45. Dirty also. Try some Accurate 2 you will find that it is cleaner, more accurate, and consistent.

Titegroup works good, little bit goes along way. Looking to fill the case up some. Looking at #2 also some 231.

231 works great for me. It has a little less snap than titegroup so it is my choice for IDPA loads. It is not going to fill up the case much more than titegroup does, however.

I've used many powders in 45acp loads. TG, 231/HP38, Clays, Red Dot, 700x, and others. Lately I've been using CFE Pistol, but I don't recall how much it fills the case...

If I remember correctly a 45acp case holds roughly 27 grains, some a little more, some a little less. No clue what powder gets you anywhere near that neighborhood. I’m way too cheap to put that much powder in a case. Lol

Think I'll try the 231 and go from there.
