Excellent, so the 178’s I have should be fine. Perfect, that saves me the cost of another box of ammo then.
Much appreciated.

Question for the group. I put a new barrel on my hunting rifle this year, and was planning to shoot 150 gr Barnes TTSX hand loads. But I just ran out of time to do load development.
I have a full...
Hello hive mind. I’m slowly buying the pieces to load for my 300 blackout, but I’m not there yet.
In the meantime, I’ve got a shiny new can to test out. So I’m looking for an affordable source of...
Hey all, I know I’m resurrecting an old thread but you all seem to have the knowledge I need.
I’m gearing up to load 300 BLK subsonics to shoot with my new can. And I have a couple questions. For...
Yeah, I’m having a difficult time finding any of these powders currently. But I do have some IMR 4064 around I could do a side by side with.
I’m hoping to use GRT to help with load development,...
I’m not super worried about unburnt powder, but it’s a fair point. The can I’ll be using is rated up to 338 Lapua, so it can handle some pressure.
If I understand correctly, a slower powder isn’t...
Hello hive mind, I want to solicit your collective wisdom. I’m working towards load development for my new rifle setup, and want to dial in on the right powder.
The rifle is a Savage 111 in 30-06....
That’s way cool, and exactly the kinds of research I’d want to do if I had time and money to.
But really what I’m hearing is that in the 20-26” range, velocity is basically as fast as it can be....
I appreciate the insights for sure. It gave me a few things to think about certainly.
I’m also looking at a type of rifling that is alleged to increase muzzle velocity as well. So every little...
Yeah, I’m not terribly likely to take a 400 yard shot. But I might. More likely I’ll zero at 200 and shoot to 300. A 165 at 2750 would only drop 8” below 0 at 300 that way. And 24” at 400.
Sounds...
That’s fair I suppose. And I can always drop down to 150’s and pick up extra velocity. Either one should work on mule deer.
18” just seems really short somehow. Luckily where I hunt isn’t thick...
They show a 24” 1:10 twist barrel in their book.

That’s a great way to look at it. Start with terminal ballistics and back into it… smart.
I’ve heard suppressors do give higher velocity for the same charge, but probably smart to just ignore that...
Hello all you wise gun nuts. Lend me some expertise.
I purchased a suppressor for my hunting rifle, and am now in the process of spec’ing out a new barrel to accept it. My question is how much of...
Sounds like you’ve found the problem. Don’t worry about it though, we all make mistakes. At least you didn’t get hurt or damage anything.

No way the temp did that. Most likely the squib rounds didn’t get powder. A primer would push the round to the lands like that.
It’s surprising how easy it can be to miss powder on a couple rounds...
Hello all, thanks for your help. It turns out I had two things going on. I had a chipped ejector that was giving bad ejection across the board. Combine that with under power loads and you’ve got...
After talking with an armorer, it looks like it’s likely my extractor or ejector gone bad. Possibly underpowered rounds, but I’m not sure on that one.
On closer inspection, both the ejector and...
I did just replace all the springs, except the magazine release spring. I only have two pins, so it wasn’t a pin in the wrong order.
I wondered about the little wear button on the end of the...
Now that’s very interesting... I did just do an overhaul of the springs on this one not too long ago. I stripped it completely down and replaced most of the springs. Not sure I’ve run factory ammo...
That’s a fair point, but I never have issues with factory ammo. And I don’t have this problem on my 460 Rowland where I’d expect a limp wrist to show up.

Hello to all you folks who know so much more than I do.
I’m stumped on my 9mm load development, and need advice on where to go from here.
I thought I had a good load, so I loaded up a test...
You know I will. Hopefully I can get this load dialed before deer season late next month. So we’ll see what happens.

I knew I got that number somewhere reliable. I’ll give the .03 a whirl and see how they fly.
I guess I’ve got brass prep to do, then back to the bench. Not a bad deal really.

I’ve heard they like a jump, so I was running at 0.05 pff the lands. I want to say that’s what they recommended, but I could be wrong. I know that number came from somewhere though, not thin air or...
