12 ga 00 buck and wad protection

I'm loading 00 buck for fun, not hunting. In my test loads, the shot is embedding into the hull pretty far, which causes a few fliers at 25 yards.

BPI sells Tyvec cards that are supposed to help with this. Anyone have experience? I can make my own tyvec cards to try. Suggestions from experience?

In the next test, I'm going to use a .050" cardboard card under the shot because I have them.

I have a lot of experience with Lee key drive slugs, and they are designed to do this.

12ga Win AA HS hulls 2 3/4" once fired
Claybuster clone of the WAA12F114 wad with petals cut off
    24.3 gr Universal
    Win209 primer
    Overshot card (.020")
PC 33 cal 00 buck from Lee mold, 9 count
Smooth bore no choke (my slug barrel)

Update - I was only able to recover 2 of the 5 Wads with the card underneath. What a difference. Tightened the pattern up nicely.
