You know you like the lump....

What is your favorite Lump Charcoal to use? Where do you get your best deals? For me, I use Royal Oak Lump as I can get 15# on sale at HD for less than $10/bg. On really special cooks I may go FOGO just because of the larger chunks. As for wood, Pecan, Hickory and Apple are my go to. I catch them on sale at Academy. Wished I had a cheaper local source in DFW...

I get small stacks or bags from Randy https://www.randysfirewood-produce.com/ in McKinney. I've got Hickory, oak and cherry. I use a chop saw to turn the logs into chunks. I also buy fireplace firewood by the pallet from him...

We prefer Royal Oak but right now we are using up some Kingsford that we got for the best possible price. Some friends decided to go to gas and they dropped off what they had left overwhich should last through Labor Day for us.

For wood we use Pecan, Apple, and Hickory with pork and Mesquite with beef

Any idea how much wood a "Stack" is compared to a bag?

Wes and I have made charcoal from Alder, Aspen, Apple and even sagebrush
sitting around campfires. It's incredibly easy to do.

How do you make charcoal? I have never looked up how to make your own.

I use Cowboy brand the most, always lump, stopped using the briquettes about 12 years ago.
