    Mixed headstamps and unknown primers

I went to the range the other day and did 2 experiments. First was mixed brass in my 375 whelen improved. I had RP 35 whelen, Hornady 35 whelen, and RP 30-06 brass all loaded with the same load. The load was originally worked up with the RP 35 whelen brass. The lower left shot was RP 35 whelen brass. Middle shot was Hornady 35 brass. The three shots upper right, were one Hornady 35 whelen and two RP 30-06 brass. In the three times I’ve tested this load it has never shot a group this big, but for hunting I’m perfectly happy with the results.

My next test was 6.5x55. My load is in WW brass with RP primers. I had 40 pieces of WW brass that was given to me many years ago, which had been sized and primed by someone else, the primers are silver, that is all I know. The top shot was with my brass and primer. The bottom two shots were with brass prepped by someone else and an unknown primer. Once again I was pleasantly surprised.

Not a huge experiment. But fun none the less.

Pretty interesting to be sure! I would have expected much wider groups!
