    .223 reloads using 40gr Vmax and CFE223

Has anybody loaded .223 using CFE223 and Hornady 40gr Vax? Or any 40gr bullet.
I have 3 good resources for reloading info. None of the 3 list any of the powders I already have on hand for any .223 40GR bullets.
It seems the more I research the more confusing things get.

    I've had great performance using 26.1gr CFE223 under Hornady's 55gr sp.
I have the 40gr Vmax because I needed some inventory and that is all Sage had on hand.
I'll just be punching paper at 50 or 100 yards btw.

    Open for recommendations.

I haven’t personally used cfe223 in anything but 6.5grendel, but hogdgon lists what you are looking for on their website. This should be perfect for you.

    I saw that info.
It got confusing by the C.O.L. of 2.280. The Hornady manual stops at a C.O.L. 2.260 for any load. 2.280 seems too long to me. I am shooting a Springfield Saint with a Wylde (sp?) chamber if that makes a hill of beans difference.
I'll load some up for a test run. Will report back in a week or so.
    Thanks.

Load them to 2.250 or there about, so they’ll fit your mag. Just make sure to start at the low end of the powder charge weight and work your way up.
