    300 blackout 150gr loads

I picked up some 150gr Speer gold dots for my bolt action 300 blackout. For those of you who shoot 150gr bullets out of your blackouts, what powders have you been using? And what velocities have you been getting?

I use mostly CFE BLK. I use it for everything blackout. Low pressure, get good velocities, goes a long way, and reasonable in price.

I have a decent load with lil’gun and 150gr ballistic silvertips. I can’t remember the actual charge, but it was getting around 1950 with a 9.5” barrel.

    With 150gr jacketed bullets 19.0gr of 1680 is averaging 1870fps in my 16" barrel, 1730fps in my 11 1/2" barrel and 1480fps in my 7 1/2" barrel.
    In my 16" barrel 12.0gr of 2400 averages 1527fps, 13.0gr does 1657fps.
6.5gr of TrailBoss in my 16" barrel averages 840fps.

On our 125 pound deer I get pass throughs at 75 yards or less with 150gr Hornady round nose bullets using my 7 1/2" barrel.
Bullets retrieved from a dirt pile at 20 yards show perfect expansion.
I'm apprehensive depending on these in my short barrel if larger deer presents themselves or at farther distances but haven't done anything about it yet.

Our deer in my neck of the woods are 80-150lbs. Ive got 150gr Hornady RN and sst, and 150gr Speer gold dots made for blackout velocities. I’m going to work up a load for each and see what happens.

With the round nose I don't think you will have any problems with a 16" barrel and less than 150 yards. The pointed bullets, probably something slightly over 200 yards.
