Powder used in Hornady +P .257 Roberts 120 gr

I am breaking down some factory loads for my .257 Roberts because my gun will not stabilize 117 or 120 gr. Just going to pull the bullets and seat lighter ones with no other changes. I realize they may not be the most accurate but I don't want to trust the powder for anything else. The Hornady +P appears to have a Hornady 120 gr BTSP and ball powder. Anyone know what the powder is? Asking in case it groups well and I want to buy more.

Ammunition manufactures may or may not use canister grade powders. It is proprietary and they will not tell anyone what powder is used. Also no one can identify the powder by looking at and/or weighing it. It may well be a powder we can not purchase. Personally, I would use the powder as fertilizer and recharge the cases with a known powder.

    I agree with Eddy.
For the sake of curiosity search this site and see if you find something close and then do the same looking through various reloading books for the nearest charge rate of the suspect powder.
BUT definitely dump the pulled powder.

Powder used in Hornady +P .257 Roberts 120 gr

I definitely don’t know the powder they use for their +p loadings. But I have used H414 with good success with 117gr bullets in the 257 Roberts, in my own +p loads.
