    Turning necks for hunting

I was curious if anyone turns their necks for HUNTING loads. All my hunting rifles are Savage Trophy Hunters, all shelf rifles. I have dialed in all loads to be MOA or a little better at 200 yards. Just curious to know if anyone else is doing this, as I’m always chasing better out of my ammo. Or is this about as good as I’m going to get. Max I’m thinking about shooting is 500 yards. Although I have not pushed them that far yet.

I've wondered about doing this myself. I was told only match shooters do this. Why not us hunters too?

It is a lot of effort for very little return. Unless you have a trued blueprinted custom rifles barrel, you will not be able to see the difference, if your rifle is all of the above, you may be able to see a difference. The guys who do this are shooting groups where .001” could be the difference between a win or a loss. All in all, for the average hunter/reloader, shooting off the shelf rifles, the juice is not worth the squeeze.

I turn necks for a couple of my guns that I shoot only target/benchrest with. It helps keep my SD down by keeping neck tension consistent. Definitely not worth the work for a hunting rifle in my opinion.

Ok gentleman. Thank you very much for the insight. Don’t think I’ll be turning necks for hunting loads.
