Both are great bullets for sure. The rifle will choose.
Hornady are cheaper and shoot great for a lot of people.
Sierra cost a bit more, and do shoot great.
I'd buy both and run both through my rifle. Let your rifle decide.
The both argument is a valid one.
I use the SST and put meat in the freezer.
I dug these out of a bear I shot in 2016, 225gr SST / .338win mag

My vote is for the 165gr SGK. My wife has used them for years coming out of her 30-30AI. They have always hit a happy medium between expansion and penetration.
I also used them in my Remington 788 chambered in 308Win to kill some big Maine deer.
My only expierance with the Hornady SST's is from my 6.8SPC (120gr). They kill hogs ok,however they always seem to shed the jacket. Pretty much the same report from other 6.8 shooters. Even at the reduced vels over a 270Win. --- SAWMAN
Why just dance when you can "rock and roll".

Both are great and have taken plenty of game. I like the SST’s personally but that’s because the rifles I use like them best. I’d let the gun decide.

From a limited experience, I’d opt out of the SSTs. They are pretty light jacketed and seem to come apart too easily. The Gamekibgs I’ve used always stay together for me to exit. The SST’s not so much.
