Jay Andrew, does quick load allow for pistol cartridges and long barrels? i have a silly idea of building a 357 sig carbine, with a 16" barrel and was trying to figure out if it was worth my time or not? if you see this and have the time i would like to use 124gr xtps but just some general information form quick load would be awsome maybe a comparison between 10.5" and 16"? who knows why i think these things! thanks a bunch!

Yes it does...I run “What Ifs” all the time on QuickLOAD.

Post the load information and I will run it for you!

awesome, so if you can, run 357 sig using both a 16" and 10.5" barrels using 124gr hornady xtp and the 147gr xtp. COAL at 1.140 inches barrel twist is a 1-10 i believe. i want to compare it to other data sourced to see if it would compare to something like 357 mag out of a lever gun. just currious. Thank you for your time, and i will make sure to give the website a through digging through later this evening!

Gotcha, well here are the suggested powders and loads for a 124gr XTP out of a 16in barrel

Here it is for a 124gr XTP with a 10.5in barrel

Here it is for a 147gr XTP with a 10.5in barrel

And here it is for a 147gr XTP and 16in Barrel

If you'd like a good read on using QuickLOAD for load development, here's a write I did on comparing QuickLOAD to real world results.

Jay, do you know if QuickLOAD has .22 Creedmoor data yet?

There's my results with Enforcer and those 180/5 gr bullets. 2509 fps average is a bit short of the 2900 fps predicted. There were no pressure signs though so I may try again, and creep higher. But I may wait til a hot summer day rather than the cold (although warm for winter) 40 degrees I shot these in. The Enforcer is extremely dirty though. I may try #9 or Power Pistol next.

    QuickLOAD users

    Thanks for sharing those results.

I’ve seen that with QuickLOAD sometimes it will overestimate the velocity, sometimes by quite a bit, especially when dealing with light for caliber loads.

When I get a chance I’ll double check the barrel length to make sure I didn’t make a mistake, that would have the largest impact on muzzle velocity.

This is a good illustration as to why QuickLOAD can be a useful tool, but it’s always important to use it in tandem with Chronographs.

As of the 2019 update disk, I don’t have 22 Creedmoor listed.
