I think I finally got something figured out. I set up a new rest for my pistol, something to where I can hold it steady to test loads and not put much pressure on the barrel. I also noticed that the...
Time to go shoot those beauties.

Man, you really mix and match stuff up. I love it.

Looking good! 10.0gr should be perfect. I’ve always used .5gr more of herco than unique. So if your revolver likes 9.5 of unique, 10.0 of herco would be spot on.

I check the forum at least twice a week. I make threads when I have something good to say, and have been updating my other threads as I gather more data.
Thanks for the well wishes for 2024, I...
I’m shooting in a Ruger M77 MK2, so I wasn’t worried about the pressure in my rifle, but it absolutely could reek havoc on older firearms. I didn’t measure case head expansion as I didn’t see it...
I’ve been reloading and shooting a bunch lately. I’ve been working on:
1) 7.5x55 with Hornady 165gr BTSP and
IMR4350
2) 6.5x55 with Hornady 160gr RN and
H1000
3) 375 Whelen improved...
People always ask about differences in case capacity between commercial and military brass, so many don’t even think about the difference between different headstamps of commercial brass. The other...
I shot seven rifles and one handgun last weekend. Every shot was accounted for, the Xero makes chronographing so easy. Best money I’ve spent on my hobby in awhile....
Finally got some results with that 300gr PRVI RN. With big game powder I was able to get 2470fps with sub MOA accuracy. With Winchester Staball Match I got 2370fps with just over 1” vertical group,...
I was able to get up to 2950fps with WinchesterStaball 6.5 and the 200gr hotcor, without any pressure signs. Next time out I’ll shoot some groups and see what kind of accuracy I get.

I shot the CFE and 4227 loads again, with less than spectacular results. I definitely feel it is the shooter. I did manage to get some velocities though. The IMR4227 load is 1132fps and the CFE...
Next up are the Speer 200gr HotCor and Winchester staball 6.5. This powder is supposed to give some good velocities in the 338-06...
If anybody has any hunting pictures from this season, post them up.

For some reason I can’t get back into the other 338-06 thread since my last post, so I am just starting another one. I’ve successfully found a load for the 200gr ballistic silvertip and big game...
This past weekend I got to use the Xero while shooting test loads out of 6 different rifles. Every shot was recorded and transferred to my phone.

I got most of everything I’ve been loading shot up and on to round number 2. Here’s a sampling.

Weren’t those originally marketed as shotshell holders for ammo cans?

Playing around with the 250 savage today. I bought the rifle in 2010, still haven’t shot it. 100gr Speer BTSP with Winchester Staball Match.

I haven’t seen any of those in a long time. I’ll keep my eyes peeled though.

I came across 20 pieces of fired nosler 30-06 brass at the range the other day.
I necked them up to .358 and formed a false shoulder on them so I can fireform them to 338-06 Ackley.

Same with me. I wanted a labradar so bad but kept holding off. Glad I did!
