Use enough gun to break shoulder if needed. Look for pictures showing vital areas. Heart/lung are forward and low compared to deer.
I’m taking my 300 RUM for the gun. Your right I better start studying the bear target zones [emoji106]

I'm 2/2 with my .338 Win Mag with Hornady SSTs.
Like previously said, blast a front shoulder, quartering toward and straight is better than quartering away.
Well got up to prep area for bear cam footage looks promising

Be prepared for the death moan ! It has ruined a lot of hunters .i took my son last year and he got his first with a .308 and the death moan was almost it for him but thankfully I was screaming louder to drown it out .
This weekend was the first time I’ve heard the death moan buddy recorded it from his so we can hear it before going. It does have a horrible death moan

Just wait until you hear it in person. I swear it actually goes through you. We got all our bear sights set up yesterday for sept.1 now comes the waiting game
I flew a helicopter in Alaska with the fish and game darting interior grizzly north of the Alaska range. I hunted them on the tanana flats and if there is any advise that should be given is that they are very fast and very quiet, I had them as close as 20 yards without knowing they were there until I spotted them. Smell is another thing. They know you are there long before you see them and IF there is a food source they have near (rotting smeat) stay away from it, sit down and wait.
So bear season has ended for me this year had a blast going to go again next year

This is one on my place that I am trying to get. Same problem as you, only comes out past legal shooting hours. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7d0773163d.jpg

I got one on my birthday this year.... I love September hunting in Maine.
NOW, lets see if I can fill my PA tag this year.
I use to live up in northern MN and hunt black bear. they love liquid smoke smell corn and anything sweet like candy or gummy's dig a small hole and put some logs on top of it and pour the liquid smoke all over the surrounding area. It will help draw them in and if your in the stand will help you line the shot up and get them in place for you to get a nice clean shot on target. I love hunting that animal. The rush is like no other.
So, how did you do?
