To toss or not to toss?

I was going through my 30-40 brass this morning, and noticed these two odd pieces.

Normally I just shoot funky brass, but these two have me a little concerned. I know I should toss them, just curious what you guys have to say.

Those shoulders make me a bit nervous, I think I'd toss them and I am the last to do that, lol.

I never toss brass. I recycle them for other uses.

Trinkets, powder dippers, dummy loads, snap caps, just to name a few.

I use the LEE Dippers for reloading and I have a couple of empty shells I use for some of my blackpowder guns.

I use the lee dippers too. I have the full set and a bunch that came with dies through the years.

I have two sets and what comes with the Lee die sets. I do use the dippers with a beam scale before I put the powder in the shell. I don't even use my tricklers any more. I'll put some powder in the pan and if I need more, I'll put some more in the dipper and lightly tap powder in the pan until I come up to weight.

The original post was in July last year. I crushed them with pliers and threw them away.

I missed the mark on making the question. The cases appear as if abraded....tumbled in rocks. How did the did the case get mashed.

They were from a bag of range brass I picked up from Wes. I just assumed they were rough looking from getting abused on rock or concrete from the shooting range they were collected from. I have no idea how that ring ( or crease) got around the shoulder, it was there when I got them, but it was pretty deep and only on those two pieces. It may have fireformed out but didn’t want to chance it with that 126 year old rifle.

Thanks. Range brass is great. On the downside I recall in a gun rag many years ago a guy had reloaded some brass that came from the fire barrel.
KB'd a SAKO. Attempts to hang that on the Finns for poor heat treatment fell on deaf ears.
