I have a couple of Romanian M69 training rifles. Once I found the ammo they like (Remington Golden Bullets,) they are incredibly accurate. Finding scope mounts that fit well is a challenge, though.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...619cd94a73.jpg

My favorite has to be my 10-22 with a green mountain barrel. It has been banned from the rimfire match at my shooting club. I always took it as a loaner and shoot a savage mark ii. The savage is very accurate but most guys shoot open sights and my 10-22 has a scope. Twice Ive loaned the 10-22 to people who otherwise would have just been spectators and both times they swept the match by 100 points or better. I was told to quit bringing the loaner rifle [emoji16].

My 10-22 is my fav. also got a Win 9422 that I just could not live without
Without question my Vudoo V-22
Two favorites. 1) 1937 Ranger 101 bolt action. Dad's gun. Was able to find the 1937 Sears catalog sporting goods pages online. $5.38
2) M&P 15-22 in Pink Talon camo. Bought for my granddaughter (a twin) 1 month before she was born. Man at Gander MT asked "When will you ever use that
camo pattern?" My reply "I hope to live long enough to take her out and shoot but, if I don't, I want her boyfriend/fiancee/husband to think she had
the coolest grandaddy ever!" Asked about what her brother was going to get "No problem, He's covered." (I have since bought him the same gun in a Magpul
version.)

Below is a 10/22 I built up and it is really a fun shooter. Very accurate.
I like the 10/22. The problem is I waste too much ammo making cans dance around my home range. The solution was purchasing the Ruger American Rimfire. Kinda sorta but not really a bolt action 10/22. I like that the mags for both guns are interchangeable. I don’t like that my favorite gun company designers were too dumb, stupid or greedy to use the 10/22 barrel.
One of the few times Ruger let me down.
Marlin 39a my great uncle gave to me for graduation. Ive shot it since I was a little boy an possibly the first gun I ever shot.
10/22 with Shilen barrel, custom stock and a couple other goodies. Shot a lot of ground squirrels with it in a few days.

I’m a sucker for a Remington 541-t Or 541-s. I did a bunch of digging and came across 3 nib t rifle and bought them all for my kids. Bad part is two are bull barrels and one is a spotter. I wish they all matched.

Nice Ruger 72. :) Jonathan I also like the 541Ts, but haven't found one that is a good buy IMO. I don't need perfect, but I want nice for a decent price. :) Old Remmy stuff rocks....new, well not so much IMO.
Leadslinger I agree finding a used one less then $800 is tough around here

Yup! Dad taught me to shoot on his Marlin 39m, the "Mountie" or short version, back in the early 1960's. He's 91 now, still shooting that same little Marlin! No telling how many kids he's taught to shoot with that thing.
Years ago I found a nice used 39A and instantly it became my favorite rifle. Not my favorite 22 rifle, but hands-down, my favorite rifle. What a joy to carry and shoot. It has accounted for a fair number of small critters over the years, but mostly it's just for plinking.

What a great thread with a great list of wonderful rimfire rifles! I've been a big fan of .22 rifles since before I could buy guns myself. I have a Marlin 981T that was my first rifle. When I turned 18 I happened upon a used Glenfield 25 at a gunshow. I've fallen in love with those ever since and have bought a good handful of them now, but kept two in particular. It seems I've talked lots of my friends into them as they have always shot well for a cheaper used rifle. Some of those friends bought one for themselves, and others bought theirs off of me. Haha. They are just great rifles! Old .22's are a great hobby of mine, as they almost all shoot well enough to plink with iron sights out to 40-50 yards, and they are not hard to find good ones for under or around $100. When I get back here on my phone, I'll have to share a few pictures!
Right! I haven’t broken the $200 mark yet on .22’s so I feel lucky, but I also rarely buy anything new. Here’s a few photos of the favorites:

I even snuck in a very rough little rifle. A single shot, marked “Trappers Special”. A little Kentucky windage is required with it but it still is a fun little rifle to get out occasionally.
oh yeah....
I also agree, no wrong answer. I have a handful of .22's. 2 are the same model that was stolen from my bedroom when I was a teenager. One is a Winchester pump 61 that was from my grandfather and his brother's to my dad and then handed down to me.

The other was my Grandmothers single shot .22lr, Remington 510 that she could outshoot my Dad, me and my brother with it. That gun was an engagement present from my Grandfather to her.

That would be a fun one to own. I like pumps. My buddy just got an old pump 30-06

Always had a thing for those nice remington 51*series! The 510-514 are all nice rifles! The first rifle I ever shot was a 514 of my dad’s and I bought one of my own now too. Good shooting rifles that generally had some nice wood on them too!
